OCD Treatment

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a disorder in which people have recurring and unwanted thoughts, ideas, and emotions (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions). The disorder may be due to genetic and hereditary factors. The chemical, physical, and functional abnormalities in the brain may also cause the disorder. However, these symptoms are observed to worsen when one experiences even greater stress. People with OCD might have cleanliness rituals, but they don’t actually enjoy them. They keep things clean and organized, otherwise, they will experience crushing anxiety.

The common symptoms or signs of OCD are fear of being contaminated by germs, fear of losing control, excessive focus on religious or moral ideas, fear of losing or not having the things that you need, repetitive thoughts of doing something, excessive hand washing even if your hands are clean, and silently repeating the words even though you want to stop.

There are many ways to treat OCD. The most prominent ways are through medications, therapies, and natural remedies. Our doctors prefer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as it is the most prominent one in this regard. It is a type of psychotherapy that addresses the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Though, they may treat your OCD through other ways, depending upon the severity of your symptoms.
