Compliance Director

Remote - USA · Full-time

About The Position

At MEDvidi, our mission is to revolutionize the way individuals perceive, access, and engage with mental health care.

We are building a comprehensive ecosystem of telehealth solutions that delivers timely, affordable, and measurable mental-health outcomes. Joining MEDvidi means contributing to a product that is commercially successful while making a real, tangible impact on people’s lives.

With a team of 200+ and rapidly expanding, we are looking for an experienced Director of Compliance to lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of our corporate compliance program across all states where we operate. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding regulatory integrity, ensuring adherence to federal and state laws, and supporting safe, ethical, and scalable growth of our telehealth psychiatry operations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required (in healthcare administration, law, business, or related field); JD, Master's in Health Administration (MHA), or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 8+ years in healthcare compliance, with at least 4 years in a leadership role. Proven track record in telehealth, behavioral health, or multi-state regulated environments; experience in psychiatry or mental health services is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of HIPAA, state telehealth laws, DEA regulations, and reimbursement compliance (e.g., CPT coding for virtual visits). Proficiency with compliance software (e.g., NAVEX, MedTrainer) and data analytics tools for risk monitoring.
  • Soft Skills: Strategic thinker with excellent communication and influence skills; ability to translate complex regulations into actionable business advice. High integrity, detail-oriented, and adaptable to startup pace.
  • Other: Willingness to obtain or maintain certifications (e.g., CHC, CCEP) if not already held. U.S. work authorization required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Oversee Compliance Program: Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with HIPAA, HITECH, state telehealth parity laws, DEA controlled substance regulations (including Ryan Haight Act compliance), and federal guidelines from CMS, ONC, and FTC. Regularly update policies to address evolving telehealth flexibilities (e.g., post-2025 Medicare waivers).
  • Risk Assessment and Auditing: Conduct ongoing risk assessments for multi-state operations, including state-specific licensing for providers, cross-border prescribing rules, and data privacy in virtual platforms. Lead internal audits, mock inspections, and corrective action plans to identify and resolve potential vulnerabilities.
  • Regulatory Monitoring and Advocacy: Stay abreast of regulatory changes across 30+ states (e.g., audio-only visit permissions, e-prescribing mandates) and federal updates. Provide strategic guidance on compliance implications for product launches, partnerships, and clinical protocols; represent the company in regulatory filings or inquiries.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver targeted training programs for clinical staff (psychiatrists, therapists), operations, and leadership on compliance topics like patient consent in telehealth, fraud/abuse prevention (e.g., Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute), and ethical AI use in psychiatry tools.
  • Incident Management and Reporting: Investigate compliance incidents, breaches, or complaints; coordinate with legal counsel on resolutions. Oversee reporting to regulatory bodies (e.g., OCR for HIPAA breaches) and maintain a retaliation-free hotline for internal reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with clinical, tech, and growth teams to embed compliance into workflows, such as provider credentialing, telehealth platform security, and reimbursement processes. Support due diligence for potential funding rounds or acquisitions.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Track key compliance KPIs (e.g., audit findings, training completion rates) and provide quarterly reports to the board and executives, highlighting risks, achievements, and recommendations for scaling.

Benefits:

  • 15 days/year of PTO
  • 15 days/year of Sick leave
  • 4 Wellness Days.
  • Paid federal holidays.
  • Healthcare insurance, dental and vision from day 1.
  • 401k after 6 months with the company.
