Prescription
Is it possible to get a prescription online without seeing a doctor?
No. You must first consult a certified mental health expert to obtain an online prescription. In addition, according to federal law in the United States, the prescription must have the signature of a licensed health professional for the pharmacy to deliver certain drugs. Depending on your symptoms and health condition, our certified mental health experts at MEDvidi can provide you with an online prescription. In addition, if the previously prescribed medication does not fall under the category of a controlled substance, our professionals may be able to provide you with a faster prescription refill.
How can I get a prescription quickly?
MEDvidi’s online prescription program enables you to obtain a prescription quickly by avoiding traditional walk-in visits to your doctor. Our licensed professionals can also provide you with same-day prescriptions.
Is it true that scheduling a video visit entitles you to an online prescription?
Scheduling an online appointment/video visit does not guarantee an online prescription. Our licensed mental health practitioners will carefully assess your signs and symptoms. They will only provide you with an online prescription if necessary for your condition. If you want the most affordable and secure online prescription services, MEDvidi is your best choice. We provide high-quality mental health professional services, simple online prescriptions, and quick prescription refills. Sign up with MEDvidi to take advantage of a fantastic opportunity to obtain the most affordable telemedicine services offered.
What should I know before scheduling an online prescription refill appointment?
Here are some suggestions and tips that you need to consider before your online appointment for a prescription refill:
- Make sure your initial evaluation form is completed – you must complete the form associated with the Smart Symptom Checker so that your licensed professional has a thorough understanding of your signs and symptoms and your health status.
- List your medications and dosage – you should be aware of the full names of your medications and the dosage. Remembering the exact names and dosage at your video visit may become overwhelming. As a result, it is beneficial to keep a list of all prescription drugs and dosages on your phone or paper before the online appointment.
- Upload all required documents – If you have important documents such as lab tests, photos of your prescription drugs, and other diagnostic data, ensure that you have uploaded all relevant documents for your doctor to review before the appointment.
- Mention your previous prescriptions – If you have received prescriptions from any other primary doctor, mention them all to your doctor at MEDvidi and inform them of your drug history.
- Promptly report any symptoms you believe you have developed from prescription drugs – If you are experiencing any specific symptoms after starting your prescription medication or think they’re related to the medication dosage, notify your mental health expert.
Pricing
Will Medvidi charge me extra for online mental health prescriptions?

How much does an appointment at MEDvidi cost?

Is it necessary for someone to have insurance to refill their prescription?

DEA Update
What are the upcoming changes in prescribing controlled substances online?
Since the public health emergency (PHE) related to Covid-19 ended on May 11, 2023, some flexibilities brought on by it are removed. Starting from November 11, 2023, new MEDvidi patients should have an in-person evaluation and get a referral letter from their primary care physician to continue getting controlled substances prescribed online. Our current patients (those who started treatment before November 11, 2023) get their prescriptions refilled as usual. They have to provide MEDvidi with a referral before November 11, 2024. You can learn more about these changes here.
Have the new DEA rules become valid on May 11, 2023?
No, May 11, 2023, was a preliminary date. According to the latest information from the DEA, the enactment of the new regulations is postponed until November 11, 2023.
When do the regulations related to online prescriptions change?
What is a controlled substance?
Controlled substances are drugs and other substances with high risk or potential for abuse and addiction. Because of that, the government controls their distribution and delivery. Several medications for the treatment of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, and other conditions fall under the category of controlled substances.
Which medications require a referral letter to be prescribed?
A qualifying telemedicine referral is required to get prescribed controlled substances via telehealth:
- Schedule III-V controlled substances can be prescribed for a 30-day period without a referral. A referral is needed to refill a prescription later through telemedicine services.
- To get schedule II controlled substances (Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, etc.) even for a 30-day period you have to provide a referral letter.
Note that these rules become valid on November 11, 2023.
What if I need a Schedule II medication but don’t have a referral yet?
- If you are our new patient (having an initial appointment at MEDvidi after November 10, 2023) and you need a schedule II drug, you have to provide a referral at the initial appointment to get a prescription. You can have an appointment without a referral as well, but we can process a prescription only after getting a referral.
- If you are our current patient (who started treatment at MEDvidi in March 2020 or later) and you were prescribed schedule II drugs, you can continue treatment. You have to provide a referral before November 11, 2024.
- If you are our current patient and were not prescribed schedule II drugs before, but require them after November 10, 2023, you have to provide a referral to get them prescribed via the Internet.
What if I need non-controlled substances?
You get non-controlled substances prescribed as usual. These changes are related to controlled substances only.
Who can provide a referral letter?
Your primary care physician, urgent care provider, family medicine provider, or internal medicine provider can provide you with a referral after conducting an in-person evaluation. Feel free to contact our Hotline at (844) 485-1477 and press 6 to learn more about where to find a certified PCP.
Where can I get the referral form and how fast should I provide it?
How often will I need to see my PCP in person?
Your referral letter is valid for 12 months. During this time, you can refill your prescription for controlled substances via telehealth services to treat a condition mentioned in the referral. If a healthcare provider you see online defines another mental health condition and changes your diagnosis or makes another one, you have to get a new referral to get controlled substances for it.
May I have an appointment without a referral?
You can book and attend an online appointment at MEDvidi even if you don’t have a referral letter yet.
- You won’t need a referral if you don’t get any medication prescribed.
- From November 11, 2023, new patients can get schedule III-V medication prescribed for 30 days without a referral. You will need a referral to refill a prescription online.
- If you get schedule II medication prescribed for the first time starting from November 11, 2023, you can get a referral after an appointment, and once we receive it, we will process your prescription.
