Sleep Apnea Insights Privacy Policy

Effective October 27, 2026. Applies to Sleep Apnea Insights for iPhone and Android.

Who we are and what this covers

Sleep Apnea Insights keeps your sleep data on your phone; we only receive what you choose to send us. This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes and how to delete it.

The app is published by Medvidi Inc., a Delaware corporation, 4010 Moorpark Ave. Suite 114, San Jose, California 95117 (“MEDvidi”, “we”). This policy covers the Sleep Apnea Insights app for iPhone and Android. It does not cover MEDvidi’s telehealth services, which have their own Privacy Policy and HIPAA Notice.

You can use the app without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers.

Data that stays on your phone

Everything below is created and stored only on your device. We cannot see it.

Data

What the app does with it

Microphone audio during a night recording

Analysed on your phone in real time to recognise snoring, breathing pauses, coughing and other sounds. Continuous audio is never stored or sent.

Short sound clips

A few seconds around detected sounds are saved so you can listen to them. They stay on the phone unless you attach one to a feedback report.

Microphone audio during exercises

Used live to check each sound in the mouth and throat exercises is strong enough. Not recorded or saved.

Sleep results

Recording times, detected events, scores, trends and weekly reports.

Phone use during a recording

Whether the phone was unlocked, with times, to estimate when you fell asleep and woke up. No app or screen content is recorded.

Your profile and screening answers

Date of birth, sex, height, weight, neck size and questionnaire answers you enter, used to give context to your results.

Tags, check-ins and exercise logs

What you tried on a night, how you felt and which exercises you did.

Reminder settings

Times and preferences for notifications, which are scheduled on the phone.

Sound clips are excluded from iCloud and computer backups. On iPhone, your other results may be included in your device backup under Apple’s terms. On Android, the app’s data is excluded from Google backup.

On iPhone, if you turn on HomeKit automation, the app runs the Home scenes you pick when you start and stop a recording. This happens through Apple Home on your device; we receive nothing.

Health data the app reads

With your permission, the app reads health data from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). It only reads; it never writes to either. The data is used on your phone to build your nightly results and is not sent to us.

Data type

Why the app reads it

Sleep sessions and stages

When you fell asleep and woke up, time awake, deep, core and REM sleep

Blood oxygen (SpO2)

Lowest oxygen and dips during the night

Heart rate and resting heart rate

Overnight heart rate and comparison with your usual

Heart rate variability

Recovery context on the morning screen

Respiratory rate

Breathing context on the morning screen and in trends

Sleeping wrist temperature (iPhone only)

Context in trends

Height, date of birth, sex

Pre-fill your profile so you don’t have to type them

You can change these permissions at any time in the Health app (iPhone) or Health Connect settings (Android). The app keeps working with fewer permissions; some results will be missing.

Use of information received from Health Connect follows the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use health data for advertising, sell it, or let people read it except as described here.

Connected wearables

You can choose to connect an Oura, Fitbit, Whoop or Withings account so the app can read your sleep and overnight vitals from it.

  • You sign in on the wearable company’s own page; we never see your password.
  • The access token that lets the app read your data is stored in your phone’s secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
  • To finish sign-in, the one-time code from the wearable company passes through a MEDvidi server function that adds our app credentials and returns the token to your phone. We do not store the token or any wearable data on our servers.
  • Data read from a wearable stays on your phone, like your other sleep results.
  • You can disconnect a wearable in the app at any time, which deletes the token from your phone and asks the company to revoke it. Each company’s own privacy policy applies to the data they hold.

Data you send us: feedback reports

The only data that reaches MEDvidi is a feedback report you choose to send, from the feedback button or a shake. Before sending, you see what is included and can switch off each optional part.

Always included

Optional, your choice

Your message and the report type

A short sound clip you pick

App version, phone model, OS version, language

Screenshots

A random install ID, not linked to your identity

The summary of the night the report is about (times, detected events, scores)

A diagnostics log of the app’s recent technical events

Your email, if you want a reply

A star rating of the morning report

We use reports only to fix problems and improve the app. They are stored with our database provider, Supabase. A notice of each new report goes to our internal team chat, Slack, with your message, your email if given, any screenshots and a link to any sound clip that expires after 30 days. The night summary and diagnostics log stay in the database and are not posted to Slack. Reports are read only by the MEDvidi team working on the app. They are not added to any MEDvidi medical record.

Sharing, selling and advertising

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it for advertising.

  • Service providers. Feedback reports are stored by Supabase and announced in Slack on our behalf, under business associate agreements and contracts that limit their use to providing that service.
  • Report for your doctor. The app can create a PDF summary of your results. It is made on your phone and goes only where you send it.
  • Booking a visit. If you tap “Book a visit”, the MEDvidi website opens in your browser. Nothing from the app is sent with it except a tag showing the visit came from the app.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose feedback reports if required by law or to protect someone’s safety.

Keeping and deleting your data

You control everything on your phone; we keep feedback reports for 24 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

  • Delete recordings or clips: in the app, from the night’s sounds or recordings list.
  • Delete everything on the phone: delete the app. On iPhone, also delete it from backups if you want no copy left.
  • Stop health data access: turn off permissions in the Health app or Health Connect. Data the app already read is removed when you delete the app.
  • Delete your feedback reports: email privacy@medvidi.com, or write to the Privacy Officer at the address below. Because reports aren’t tied to an account, tell us roughly when you sent them, your phone model, and the email you entered if you gave one, so we can find them. We delete them within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, or to complain to a regulator. Contact us at the address below to use them.

Security, children, medical use, changes and contact

  • Security. Data on your phone is protected by your phone’s own encryption and lock. Feedback reports travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and are stored with access limited to the app team.
  • Children. The app is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you think a child has sent us a report, contact us and we will delete it.
  • Not a medical device. The app gives sleep and snoring insights. It does not diagnose sleep apnea or any other condition and is not a substitute for a doctor or a sleep test.
  • Changes. If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and its date, and tell you in the app before the change applies to data you send.
